Luggage Buying Tips
By Henry Tate
When it comes to buying luggage, many people don’t really give it the thought it deserves. I guess this is understandable. If you’re going on holiday, you’re probably worrying about other things, such as have you remember to pack everything, have you got travel insurance sorted, etc.
So to help you out, I’m gong to cut down the time it takes for you to buy some good luggage by giving you a few crucial tips that I’ve learnt through experience.
Let’s get started:
Beware of cheap luggage that looks good on the outside, but after it’s been used for awhile, comes apart or gets damaged easily and rendered useless. It is possible to find a bargain piece of luggage that has been knocked down in price, but its rare to find a “cheap” piece of luggage that’s worth buying. In this day and age, you get what you pay for. If you don’t pay now, you’ll have to pay later with frustration and hassle.
On to my next tip.
Buy luggage that has wheels. This is extremely important. You don’t want to buy carrying your entire luggage on your back or in your hands. I can tell you from experience that it’s always far better to have it on wheels, especially if you do a lot of travelling.
My next tip is especially for frequent travellers, but applies to everyone. Buy luggage that is built for durability. There’s no guarantee that the airport staff will treat your luggage carefully. It will be thrown and tossed in all sorts of places, and you need something that won’t get damaged easily.
You don’t want your luggage getting torn on the conveyer belt and all your belongings falling out everywhere. I’ve seen it happen, and I’m sure that person won’t make the same embarrassing mistake twice!
Something else you may want to consider is the weight of your luggage. Different airlines have different requirements. You don’t want to have to leave your luggage behind because of some new rule at an airport. Anything you say won’t be able to persuade them, so if you have luggage that can also pass as carry-on luggage, then you will find it easier to get around this problem should it arise.
There you go. My hard won tips of what to look for in a luggage set. I hope this will help save you some time in researching what you need for your requirements.
